The
Tri Tronics Bark Limiter G3 is a well-thought-collar with ample opportunities.
The
Tritronics is a well-accepted brand among the companies producing dog anti-bark
collars. First of all these collars are distinguished by their reliability and
quality, the Tri Tronics Bark Limiter G3 is not an exception. That collar
exceeds my expectations its duration and the ability to define a bark.
Design
Instead
of the usual two prongs, the device has three prongs, one of them is not active.
Two prongs as usual send out a static shock, the third prong (non-active) makes
the collar easier to be fixed and allows sit better on dog’s neck. That design more
suitable for dogs, there is almost no the pressure and the friction. Also
included are extra long prongs for long-haired dogs, it shows once more the forethought
of the device. But it has one disadvantage, the third prong does not have an
extra prong, it introduces an imbalance. I would have liked to update the
device to fix that disadvantage.
Weight and size
Apart
from its predecessors, the collar is tiny and lightweight. The weight of the
device is about 0.13 pounds. This weight is suitable for dogs from 10 pounds.
Odometer
The
collar has a built-in odometer to keep track how much time your dog barks when
you are away. It helps you to monitor the effectiveness of the collar for a
week, a month, a year.
Battery
A
non-rechargeable battery works much longer than usual. The battery lasts for
whole year and costs 10$. The total price of the collar increases imperceptibly.
Level of correction
The
collar has 5 levels of correction. You may manually select needed level by
pressing the button on the collar. At first sight the control of system may
seem confusing, so I recommend you to learn an instruction before switch on the
collar. I must admit that the collar does not use learning mode and does not
have intuitive correction. Therefore you need to find out the mission of all
levels. All levels are controlled by one button. You see what level has
selected by led lights on the collar.
One
disadvantage of the device is the lack of opportunity to test the collar in the
action. You can not see the light indicator in the moment of sending out a
static shock. So maybe it takes time to find out the acceptable level of correction
for your dog. I would have liked to add beep, vibrate or flash a light to show
the collar in the action. So first time you need to see how your dog perceive a
correction and select more effective level to deter a dog from barking.
Dummy collar
The
Tri Tronics Bark Limiter G3 has a counterpart which is a dummy collar. When your
dog has trained by the collar, you can use dummy collar. The dummy collar is
good way to cheat and save your battery.
Conclusion
Advantages. A Well-design collar with 3 prongs sits very
comfortable. The device has a long-life battery. An odometer and a dummy collar
are new interesting features of the Tri Tronics Bark Limiter G3. A weight and a size
fit for dogs from 10 pounds.
Disadvantages. Only 2 extra long prongs, the third prong does not
have any, it’s not suitable. The collar does not have an indicator, a tone or a
vibration to show when the dog is sent out a static shock. The collar is for advanced
users.
